From a Vision to a Collective Success
In 2019, our founders made the decision to bring employees into ownership, recognizing the contributions of the team that helped build the company. Through an Employee Share Ownership Plan (ESOP), Earthscape transitioned to an employee-owned business, ensuring that our values of integrity, dedication, and customer-first service would live on through the very people who uphold them every day.
Mark Schwarz and Sam Bauman started Earthscape in 2005. They were an unlikely pairing. Sam was a nineteen year old entrepreneur who had managed 12 local properties throughout high school and bought his first riding mower before he turned 13 years old. Mid-career Mark left the executive life of software engineering to be creative outside. Sam and Mark both loved the creativity and rewarding work of the business of landscaping. The rest, they say, is history.
An exceptionally diligent work ethic combined with the creativity of design using CAD technology established the design-build firm as a leader in exceptional customer service and trend-setting principles in design and construction.
With offices and crews in Elmira and Toronto, projects are completed for design-minded clients across Southern Ontario, including the Greater Toronto Area. Sam is still holding down the fort with his experienced management team while Mark has taken a back seat and focused on the business’s off-shoot at Earthscape Play.
