Seamless Front Entrance & Transitional Style
This project, crafted by Earthscape, Ontario’s premier landscape contractor, balances a welcoming front entry with a playful backyard putting retreat—unified by consistent materials and plant selections. The front entrance employs formal elements and symmetry in a transitional style to highlight the home’s façade. A smooth, tinted concrete driveway flows into matching landing banding, visually tying vehicular and pedestrian zones together. Clean concrete steppers lead from the sidewalk to the door, framed by low, columnar evergreens and sculptural perennials that soften hard edges and introduce vertical interest. Subtle bollard lights and recessed step lighting accentuate grade changes and provide a warm, inviting glow after dusk.
Tiered Backyard Putting Retreat & Premium Artificial Turf
Leveraging the site’s existing grades, Earthscape designed a multi-level backyard that accommodates lounging, dining, and putting—each zone distinct yet cohesively linked. The centerpiece is a miniature putting green surfaced in premium synthetic turf, expertly contoured for gentle breaks and authentic play. Crisp concrete edging, tinted to match the front-entry banding, frames the green and maintains visual continuity. Adjacent to the turf, a spacious patio poured at the finished floor elevation offers room for dining furniture and casual seating. The strategic tiering creates natural privacy and keeps each area feeling intimate without sacrificing connection.
Privacy Screens & Soft Plantings
To ensure seclusion without bulky fences, Earthscape installed decorative screens and columnar trees along the perimeter of the putting green. These elements block unwanted sightlines while maintaining airiness and sightlines to the sky. Surrounding the patio and green, meadow-style planting beds filled with a mix of deciduous grasses, evergreen groundcovers, and spring-blooming perennials soften the modern hardscape. At the rear edge, gardens were left naturalized, providing a gentle transition to the adjacent ravine and reinforcing the property’s connection to nature.
Cohesive Hardscape & Planting Transitions
Throughout the design, material consistency unites front and back: the same tinted concrete banding spans driveway, entry landing, and patio perimeter, while matching concrete steppers guide movement between levels. Powder-coated steel edge restraints maintain crisp joints and prevent material migration. Strategic plant placements—grouped in bold, repeating gestures—anchor each terrace, ensuring the minimalist aesthetic remains uncluttered yet texturally rich. A drip-irrigation system delivers water only where needed, minimizing waste and supporting healthy plant growth with minimal upkeep.
Evening Ambiance & Architectural Lighting
Lighting was integral to both zones, creating soft ambiance and ensuring safety as daylight fades. In the front, bollard fixtures line the driveway and entry path, while recessed step lights highlight the concrete steppers. In the backyard, low‐voltage uplights emphasize columnar trees and screens, and in-grade fixtures wash the patio slab in warm light. Discreet LED downlights under overhangs softly illuminate the putting green’s edges, extending usability into late-evening practice sessions or fireside chats.
By integrating a formal front entrance with a tiered putting green retreat, Earthscape delivered a multifunctional landscape that feels both expansive and personal. Consistent use of tinted concrete, precise hardscape detailing, and a restrained planting palette ensure a seamless transition from curb to green—offering lasting curb appeal, play, and relaxation in one cohesive design.
